On mixtapes and our favorites' favorites

08/30/2018
A letter from Brunette, the wine bar my husband and I owned. This was number 37.

Tonight! Join us for MIXTAPE - our playlist listening party where we invite our favorite bands to hang out and play their favorite music on the stereo.

This edition’s guest of honor is Jeremy Earl, from the band Woods.

Woods is a band we discovered through a friend maybe 10 years ago (thanks, Dan!) that has never really left our rotation.  For those of you who know their music, you understand. And for those of you who don’t: You are in for a treat.

You could start with this Woods-sanctioned primer. Or you could just come hang out at Brunette where you’ll hear at least one of their songs and then it will stick in your brain and you'll go home and listen to this album or maybe this one on repeat for the rest of your life.

But back to Jeremy’s MIXTAPE.
Do you fall easily in love? Does holding a scribbly labeled 4" x 2.5" piece of plastic filled with magnetic tape feel almost as exciting as pressing play for the first time? Did you trade bootleg CD's through the mail in the 90's and not even own a CD player?

Then you are like me and this playlist is for you.

No indie rock here. Made up of songs mostly from the 60's and 70's, and from what we can tell, there are only 2 songs from this century. Pick them out and you've earned bragging rights for days.

Thursday 8/30
MIXTAPE x Jeremy Earl
Doors open at 5.
Jeremy hits play at 7pm.

Always listening on repeat,
Your bartenders,

Tracy + Jamie
